Rest In Peace Emperor Steinbrenner

George Steinbrenner – you either loved or hated him. He was the single reason The Yankees would become known as “The Evil Empire”, but that moniker didn’t come without a great amount of success (7 World Series titles, 16 division titles over 37 years; for those not keeping count). It speaks volumes to the fact that success doesn’t come with being everyone’s friend, it comes with winning. Rest in peace, Dark Lord.

  1. It is a sad time for the baseball world especially with the all star game being played on the same day, but I am also surprised at the amount of praise that the man who was once known as the most hated man in baseball. He definitely did do a lot for the New York Yankees and I’m sure the city is very grateful for it. I also kind of like/hate the fact that I have a team to hate for in the Yankees because they just buy all their players. Also you think you could take a quick look at my blog cuz I really want to know what you think. http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2010/07/14/greatest-owner-ever-hardly/

Hey Chris, agreed. I being from an underdog town like Philadelphia, I HATE The Yankees for the same reason everyone praises them. I think, though, that Steinbrenner does deserve a fair amount of praise. I personally hated the guy (he tried to get taxpayers to pay for the new stadium), but you can’t discount the impact he had on the game. Yeah dude – I’m down to take a look at your stuff.
